Junko Kirimoto nasce in Giappone nel 1970 e si laurea presso la Kyoto Seika University nel 1992. La sua tesi le è valsa il Premio d’Oro Tesi di Laurea indetto dal JIA. Ha collaborato con Shin Takamatsu, Kazuyo Sejima e Massimiliano Fuksas. Nel 2002 fonda insieme a Massimo Alvisi lo studio Alvisi Kirimoto con base a Roma. La sua identità culturale si manifesta nella cura del dettaglio, nel rigore progettuale e nell’approccio minimalista. Il dialogo con la natura, la rigenerazione urbana e l’attenzione ai temi sociali rendono i loro progetti unici nel panorama dell’architettura internazionale.

Junko Kirimoto was born in Japan in 1970 and graduated in Architecture from Kyoto Seika University in 1992. Her thesis earned her the Golden Thesis Award from the JIA. She has collaborated with several architects, including Shin Takamatsu, Kazuyo Sejima and Massimiliano Fuksas. In 2002 she founded Rome-based Alvisi Kirimoto together with Massimo Alvisi. Her cultural identity manifests in her attention to detail, design rigour and minimalist approach. Dialogue with nature, urban regeneration and attention to social issues make her projects unique in the international architectural scene.

RebelArchitette, is an Italian not for profit association advocating for equality, respect and justice in architecture.

In 2018 we were flash mobbing in Venice together with VowArchitects thanks to a generous call made by Caroline James and Louise Braverman architects.

When invited by Alessandro Melis to coordinate a section entitled  Decolonising the Built Environment, we decided to share this opportunity with all the Italian female professionals we would love to see in newspapers, books, conferences for their outstanding value.
